Dewey Beach Houses

Lindy Promotion’s site says that over 40 teams have already registered, but limited walkup sales will be available from 12-1PM at the Starboard. For more info on details, pricing and prizes, click the flyer below.

Its going to be a hot one this weekend, no way around it. In Dewey Beach already or coming this weekend? You can at least take comfort in the fact that tomorrow’s forecast of 94 degrees is about 9 degrees cooler than DC’s expected 103 degrees.

Lot of happy hour food and drink specials tonight, but first let’s talk AC and waterparks.   The Starboard says they have the most AC in town with over 65 Tons of air conditioning.  Ever been to a water park or parasailing in Dewey? Who knows, this might be the weekend.

Whatever you do, be safe as there are heat advisories all over the place and this weekend looks to be a record breaker.

Restaurant specials, happy hour deals and weekend events

Taco Toss at the Lighthouse - $2 Drafts and Taco Toss Buffet from 4PM - 9PM.

Nalu Surf Bar is having Round 3 of Nalu Palooza with Jeff Harris until 6:15pm, then Matt Avery 6:30 - 9:30 followed by Gypsy Wisdom from 10-1am.

Port Restaurant is having $2 Miller Lite Drafts today and has lot’s of fresh fish on hand, including Wreckfish, Ahi Tuna, Mahi-Mahi and Atlantic Salon.   Pick one and have it grilled, broiled, blackened or fried and topped with some pretty unique toppings (Crab Imperial, Mango Salsa, Lump Lemon Cream or a Ginger Soy Reduction).

The Cove has Lower Case Blues on stage tonight at 9 PM.

More in a DJ Mood? 9:30 at Ponos, you can catch DJ Heather from 10-1am with $2 Millers, $5 Martinis and bottle service specials.  Or head over to the Starboard after 9pm and catch DJ smoky.

Saturday, the Starboard is having their Christmas in July Party with $3 Heinekens all day and night and live music by Eleven Eleven.  Plenty of Santa Hats and Holiday T-Shirts there and lots of Starboard gift certificates and prizes for those that come fully dressed for the occasion. • Next door at Ponos, DJ Deogee from 10-1 AM with $2 Miller Lites, $5 Martinis, and their big special of the night, a bottle of Captain Morgan table side with mixers for $19.99.  Good thing just about everyone walks home in Dewey.

The Starboard

Early at the Starboard tonight, G. Love is playing an free encore performance from 6-8PM.  And anytime this weekend is a great time to grab a Crush at the Starboard.  As their newsletter says, they lead the world in Crush sales, so they must be doing something right!

Sunday morning The Starboard is having a huge 4th of July bash.   In additional to their gigantic Bloody Mary bar and breakfast menu, they’ll be cooking out in the parking lot - burgers, dogs, egg sandwiches, etc.   Elvis should be there around noon, then Doug Segree on the back stage.

Nalu Surf Bar, tonight: Matt Avery on stage 5-9 then Star69 10-1.

The Cove, tonight: Bullbuckers (Ska - Reggae - Soul) on stage at 9pm.

Ponos, tonight: full menu from 5-10PM, followed by a dance party with Deogee from 10-1AM.

Port is featuring $2.50 Red Stripes and has Jay Wilcox playing acoustic tonight from 9-12.

Dewey Beach was named one of only four “SuperStar Beaches” in the country in this year’s report by the NRDC - A Guide to Water Quality at Vacation Beaches. Regionally, no New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia or North Carolina beaches achieved this status - only neighboring Rehoboth Beach.  The two other “Superstar Beaches” were in Minnesota and New Hampshire.

Here’s how the award was determined…

The NRDC (National Resources Defense Council) rated 200 popular beaches across the country. Sixty five beaches in Florida were rated, included popular tourist destinations such as South Beach, the Florida Keys, Sanibel Island, and Navarre.    Among other beaches rated were 8 beaches in Hawaii, more than 100 California beaches, 10 beaches in Massachusetts and 7 in Maine.

Dewey Beach was recognized for it’s water quality last year and for achieving this accomplishment the past three years in a row.  Dewey was also recognized for it’s water quality testing frequency.  Not bad for a small town only one mile long and a few blocks wide!
